Goofy for God and Smiles

Yeah I know, I know. Its been a few weeks since I have blogged. I am not in the habit yet I guess. Anyway, here is a post.

Tonight I had the honor of serving dinner at The Shepherd's Place Kitchen with Bob, Pat, Chris and Steve. The kitchen is part of MACC, Manchester Area Conference of Churches. St. Pauls Collegiate Church just recently became a member Church and part of being a member I am sure is serving and helping where needed. What a great way to help people in need. Many churches banding together to serve one purpose, loving one another, unconditionally.

I love being the goof ball that God made me to be. I mean I don't always glorify Him with the words I choose or the topics discussed, but I certainly can make someone smile. I love that personality trait within me. There is nothing I enjoy more than making people laugh. Don't get me wrong, I am not a comedian by any stretch of meaning, but I have this goofiness about me. . . many of you know what I am talking about. You just cant help but smile, even if its in shame.

Tonight was not much different. When I first got there I was way too serious for my own liking. But once I got comfortable being there (it doesn't take me long to get comfortable) I was all goofy Jason. I had the privilege of serving the pizza, piping hot out of the oven. I had two serving spatulas and 2 trays of pizza in front of me.

The line started to form and the people there were all over that pizza. I mean they came up for firsts, seconds and thirds. I just had to have some fun so I started flipping the spatulas and banging them against the stainless steel counter, you know, like they do in the Japanese Hibachi restaurants?

Well that gained me the title of Pizza Flipper among the guests and volunteers. As I served I would do little tricks like take the pizza on one spatula and gently toss it to the other. Some I would flip upside down on my spatula and serve it flipped right side up onto the plate. Then there was the spatula spin in the air, catching it in my hand. It was just me being goofy, but you know what? It allowed people to smile, if nothing else for a few minutes. Am I good at flipping these things around? NOT EVEN CLOSE!! Was I being goofy? Sure was. . .

Did God smile?

I'm confident He did.

I love serving Him and being who He made me to be.

"Eyes widening in disbelief" Oh my gosh!!! He actually posted something!!!

LOL Pizza Flipper, be careful you might start a new craze in the pizza industry, imagine pizza servers across the country flipping slices up in the air, behind their backs, even blind folded. Heck you could start the The International school of pizza flipping, it would be better than those guys tossing the liquor bottles around in that movie Cocktail!!

I think it is great when you can make people smile by being goofy, so many get their laughs at the expense of others, it's nice when you run across someone who knows how to laugh at themselves!! One of my favorite pictures of Jesus, shows Him with His head thrown back laughing with joy. Sometimes laughter is the best medicine, and sometimes I think we as Christians need to remember that a little bit more and not take ourselves so serious all the time.

God created us, and we are about the most ridiculous thing in Creation, 90 percent of the time. So you know He has a sense of humor!!

We're all created in God's image so I definitely think God smiles and is goofy! Great post.

Don - Laughing at myself is one of the things I do best. You're right, we are ridiculous. . .

Marisa - I would agree with you. God is so many things.
